I am a firm believer that teaching is a learning opportunity for both the student seeking tutoring as well as the teacher. Because this shared experience is a passion of mine, and I have recently started my Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. I love to be in an environment that fosters and encourages growth. My collegiate career at a small liberal arts university opened my mind to the power of knowledge through engagement with your community. I view tutoring as a way to positively influence the community around me and continue to grow as an individual.
I'm currently teaching English as a Second Language to college-age students, but I have experience tutoring writing, math, Spanish, and other topics. I have a very strong academic background from high school through college and I'm seeking opportunities to help others who need personalized attention and customized tutoring. As a very empathetic and caring person, I believe it is critical to understand the context of the students' situation and adapt the lessons or tutoring approaches accordingly. I feel confident in my skills to breakdown the steps of the learning process and from that develop a personalized journey with small steps or victories along the way to the ultimate goal.
Throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers, I tutored many different subjects to an array of ages and cultural backgrounds. For three years, I created and taught ESL lessons to a group of eager students who were dedicating their evenings to learning English. It was inspiring and humbling that individuals who worked so hard during the day would exhibit even more diligence by dedicating their evenings to study another language.
I look forward to chatting with you to determine how we can best achieve your goals!
