I am a teacher with 5 years of classroom experience, who just moved to the Los Angeles area. I am certified by New York state to teach grades K–12, and I have just received my academic eligibility for a preliminary California teaching credential. I hold a Master’s degree in Bilingual Education from Columbia University in New York, and I am bilingual in English and Spanish.
I love working with students who are struggling in a particular subject and breaking down the material into manageable, understandable parts so students come away from the experience feeling competent. My favorite subjects to teach are writing and math, but I’ve also tutored in Spanish, literature, history and ESL. I think the most important part of being a good tutor is building up a student’s confidence and giving them the tools to succeed independently. In my free time I enjoy playing with my dog, reading, bike riding and exploring different neighborhoods in Los Angeles, my new home.
