I graduated from Stanford University and have a background in finance. Before launching my own investment management fund, I worked at Morgan Stanley. As one of its youngest professionals, I was ranked number one against my peer class on a nationwide basis. I have prior experience in principal investing and investment banking. I hold a B.A. in Political Science.
While at Stanford, I studied abroad at China's prestigious Beijing University as a recipient of the Center for East Asian Studies Fellowship. I also led a group of peers to raise awareness of the North Korean human rights situation, and their group received the Dean of Students Outstanding Achievement award. I enjoys learning other foreign languages and cultures, however, as I was born in Paraguay and have many relatives living in Latin and South America.
I began tutoring the SAT and certain subjects as a senior in high school when parents came to me with their high school and middle school students. I really enjoy working with students and giving SAT and college application advice. Having relied on myself throughout the college application process (being the first to attend college from my family), I remember not knowing where to turn or what to do. I want to help others feel empowered rather than helpless during the process.
When it comes to teaching style, I combine having fun with motivating the student to perform at his or her best. I focus on getting to know the student and identifying the methods that are best tailored to his or her strengths and weaknesses. I can be rather flexible and creative in my solutions on an individual basis. My overall strategy is to be the student's personal cheerleader while reinforcing good study skills and habits.
I spend any spare time training for triathlons and marathons. I'm currently training for the 70.3 Half Ironman in Augusta and the Atlanta Marathon in late summer/early fall. My first race was the Atlanta Half Marathon on Thanksgiving Day two years ago.
