I graduated Magna cum Laude from New York University, where I majored in Dramatic Literature and Classics. I have studied Latin for 6 years and was particularly fond of Ovid's Metamorphoses, as well as the Aeneid. I have spent my last two years of school in Paris, where I went to study abroad for my junior year and ended up staying for another 4 ½ years. (C'est comme ça, ne c'est pas?) In Paris, I worked as a French and English tutor, sharing my love for language, literature, culture and grammar with all of my students. I worked in French public schools as well as private institutions, and taught students aged 7-70.
Now in my home state of California, I have continued to tutor, helping students to improve their SAT II scores, prepare for exams in school, and work on college essays and school assignments. I have helped students who have difficulty retaining material or focusing on homework and studying, and who lack organizational skills. I have a very supportive and encouraging teaching style as well as an underlying desire to convey and impart my own love and passion for the subject. It is my strong belief that finding something you love about what you are learning makes the learning experience more enjoyable. Aside from teaching, I love to experiment with (and blog about) Vegan cooking projects, hike with my dog and devour a good novel.
