Hello, I attend the University of Georgia and am pursuing a degree in Mathematics. After graduation I plan to apply for Teach for America where, for two years, I can gain experience teaching students in an underrepresented area. If all goes well, I'll be teaching at the same high school my mother attended. It would be a dream of mine to teach at Ballou Senior High School in Washington DC. In the entire DC area there are only 1 in 20 students (5%) that graduate from college. This experience is important to me because I can give back to those that haven't had the same opportunities that I have.
When in high school, I was always the student everyone went to for math help. I have tutored many family friends, neighbors and students.
A combination of my schooling and participation in marching band has allowed me to comfortably work with all types of people as our members were composed of all backgrounds and learning styles. As a section leader in high school and a former rank leader in the Redcoat Marching Band, I have also led diverse groups of individuals. I take every experience and lesson learned and incorporate them into my tutoring.
