An education is the best gift anyone can give themselves or anyone else.
It truly is one of the few things in this world that lasts a lifetime and no one can ever take it away from you. To foster one is a frustrating process, but worth infinitely more than the pain it took to attain it.
I have tutored for over 15 years in the areas of science, mathematics, physics, essay writing, entrance exam preparation, biology, chemistry and any thing pre-med related (MCAT and courses) from ages 7 to 25+.
I am bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish.
I was a senior science tutor for 4 years (ages 7-18), a college academic advisor for 2 years and an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry for 1 year before entering medical school. My undergrad & graduate degrees were in Biology/Ecology with a Spanish minor a at Brown University and Texas A&M respectively. I did all 9 years of my medical training at the largest medical center in the U.S. , and I graduated with my M.D. from UT Medical School in 2012, and completed a neurology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 2016 . I am a published Neuroscientist, in the acclaimed journal, Neurology, with a focus in neurological infectious diseases, specifically neuro degenerative dementias and CJD. In 2015, I was the platform speaker in Washington, D.C., for my research in Prions, a rapidly developing and deteriorating dementia type disease related to CJD.
Currently, I am working on my research interests and developing neurological models.
My approach to learning is simple: relax, leave your frustration at the door and get ready to wow yourself with your untapped abilities. Sometimes it just takes someone to relate to your learning style in order to help you pull your best effort foreword. I like tutoring with props and lots of blank sheets of paper (I like drawing concepts out), and take time to understand exactly what type of motivation you need from me in order to live your full potential.
Whether its MCAT prep, essays or science related tutoring I can assure you that we will get you to your end point. If one is lucky enough to find the right tutor, the subject matter automatically becomes infinitely less convoluted. My strength is easily my patience, my weakness is that I will not allow you to fail. My style is unique; I like using stories and acronyms and have a mind for helping you memorize mass amounts of information in short amounts of time. It's an art I perfected in medical school. Alternatively, I also enjoy slowing going through a subject to make sure the foundation is a solid place to build new concepts.
Sometimes it's as simple as structure and discipline that needs to be built into your day, for others it's assurance and confidence that we will build together that gets you the marks you deserve.
Believe in yourself... and leave the rest to me.
Lets get to work, an education is waiting...
