I received my B.S. from Hofstra University in Chemistry accompanied with minors in both Math and Physics and my M.A. from Columbia University in Chemistry. Throughout my life I have always had an enthusiastic attitude regarding education. Since beginning tutoring in 10th grade I have assisted students in the disciplines of Math, Physics, and Chemistry.
I have received many awards throughout my educational career including: Outstanding Math Skills as a Freshman, competed in Putnam Math Competition and received points in 2008, highest GPA of Chem/Biochem/Forensic graduating class 2009, and the A.C.S. award for Inorganic Chemistry.
My teaching style benefits from my interdisciplinary knowledge by relating concepts to either a different science or by correlating to natural phenomena. This helps the student get a real sense, as well as a permanent idea, of the concept importance. By providing the students with a concrete example, it is much more likely they will retain the information.
My clients range from high school students to matured adults who are continuing their education. Most recently at Columbia I taught recitation classes composed of 15-25 students. This gave me a thorough understanding of my class’s aptitude resulting in the generation of compatible tests. This wide range of exposure allows me to assess the student’s specific needs, helping to foment their scientific understanding.
In my free time I thoroughly enjoy reading up on modern science, reading science history, skateboarding, playing and listening to music, being active, and drawing.
