I am a recent Biochemistry graduate from San Diego State University, although I grew up in Northern California (Mountain View to be exact). I have experience teaching a wide variety of subjects but math and science are by far my favorites. My goal as a tutor is to make these challenging subjects easily accessible for my students. I have taught students of all ages and find it particularly rewarding to work with those who have learning challenges.
In my free time, I love reading mysteries, horror novels, true crime books and general fiction. I also spend time furthering my knowledge of Forensic Science (I'm actually a trained CSI!). I'm also passionate about animals and volunteer at a wildlife rescue center.
I truly care about all of my students and do everything I can to help them be successful and independent learners!

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in teaching function over memorization. If students can understand how or why something works and how it fits into the bigger picture they are more likely to be able to adapt the concept when working through complicated problems.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I always discuss what the class structure is like during the first sessions. Knowing what the teaching format is like and how frequently tests come up helps me plan for future sessions. I always make sure to leave time to address any current issues the student is having so they don't fall behind.
