I went to school for Special Education and graduated with my Masters in Special Education with an additional certificate in Autism Studies. Since my undergraduate graduation I have been teaching in special education settings. I spent five years as the Educational Therapist for a non-profit Autism Center before starting a new path with Special School District in the Applied Behavior Analysis department. I am currently a teacher for a self contained high school in an intellectual disabilities/emotional disturbance classroom still with SSD.
Besides Autism I have great experience with a variety of learning differences. I have been tutoring for the last 16 years, whether privately or through Varsity Tutors. I have worked with children in the K-12 setting who have Specific Learning Disabilities, attention disorders, and students who need just that extra push to get homework finished. My main goal as a tutor is to make homework an easy and pain free task. This may mean re-teaching the days Math lesson or working through the homework step by step to make it understandable.
When I am not doing school related things, I love to cook, walk my dog and be outside. I like to run and can proudly say I have four half marathons under my belt.
