We covered LSDR and how to calculate regression equations using residuals. We went over alternative models and transformations on exponential and root models in order to linearize. The student has a much better idea of how to approach these calculations now.

Tutoring review by Ashlei in West Miami, FL
Tonight's session was covering a study guide for his test on Friday. It was specifically Fraction Decomposition with a focus on Heaviside method, Determinants, and Solving Matrices using Inverse Multiplication. After we completed the study guide I put either a circle, star, or line next to each problem. Any circled problems he must do on his own with a calculator, stared problems mean we went through them and he needs to fully review before the test, and problems with lines by them just need to reread before the test. I am excited for him to take his test Friday because I have a feeling he's going to do very well.

In our first session today we started working on topics from chapter 12 in the student's geometry textbook. This included finding surface areas of objects. The main focus was to find a set process for solving and applying it to all different types of problems. I gave the student practice problems to reinforce what we discussed today. I will look at these in our next session where we can address any areas that need further review.

Tutoring review by Addison in West Miami, FL
We prepped for the test on Friday, looking at the test review packet from the teacher, and working on additional problems in the same vein. A good bit of the work was just getting terms down, since the student is quick to pick up on concepts once she gets what's going on in the problem. One thing that we're going to have to keep working on is emphasizing the distinction between what we can and can't get away with using diagrams for, and making sure that we're not pulling information out of them without having a justification for it.
