Tutoring review by Karen in Snohomish, WA
At the tutoring session yesterday we covered multiplication. We read a book that talked about different ways to think about multiplication and how to solve a multiplication problem. While we did this, I had him look at a number line and find patterns for her multiplication problems. We talked about even and odd numbers and what patterns we saw with her timeline. Finally I showed her a trick on how to do her 9's by using her fingers. She caught onto the tricks that I showed her really quick. She is really good with patterns and when prompted can dig deeper into numbers. I left the number line with her so she can use it for her homework. Next week I want to really work on her 2's and implement some games to make her really enjoy it. Overall, it was a very productive session.

Today the student and I covered material for a makeup test. We covered Chi-square tests, t-tests, and confidence intervals. The student felt most unsure about t-tests, but we did a few practice problems and he picked them up really quickly, and now has a much better understanding. We covered concepts as well as problem solving.

This was an introductory meeting, where we laid the foundation for where we would go and what we believed needed to be worked on. We reviewed the student's midterm and attempted to work through issues she had there. We will meet again on Monday, along with her friend also in the EMBA program, to go over some old exam and homework problems.

Tutoring review by Natalya in Snohomish, WA
Today was our first tutoring session after the break. The student had a big review packet to complete by tomorrow. He has a quiz on Wednesday. He is working on factoring binomials and trinomials (both with leading coefficient 1 and other than 1). He was completing the review packet by himself, and he only had a few questions. He has to try factoring by GCF first, and then proceed to factoring farther. Good luck on the quiz!
