Today we went over stoichiometry, naming/ drawing organic compounds, finding empirical formulas, and balancing equations. The session went quite well. We reviewed her recitation worksheet and a bit of her assignment due Friday. She is understanding concepts with minor direction, and I'm very impressed with how much work she is getting done independently. If she continues this self driven pace she'll do quite well on the test. I did tell her to start reviewing the concepts she first learned; there has been a good amount of material so far and it's easy to forget the first concepts while working through new ones.

We continued working through Dante's Inferno. There was lots of looking up unknown words and talking through the text. We also discussed the review questions he had. We did the same with his AP history reading and worksheet.

The student had a good amount of questions that she wanted to go over for today's session. Questions ranged from her classwork to the homework that was administered for our sessions. In regards to the classwork questions, she was confused as to why the teacher took off points for various questions. We took some time to go over those questions in particular. I was able to clarify all of the questions and concerns that she had. Hopefully, this will allow her to do a much better job on her future exams. As we progressed to our session, our main focus was to continue our lessons from our previous class with the new lessons that followed thereafter. She had some questions regarding our previous lessons that we covered. Once we clarified the issues revolving around quadratic functions and FOILing, she was much more confident in answering the problems. The main issue was that these math topics need the proper amount of practice associated with the concepts. As she did more and more questions, she realized that they seemed to get easier.

Today's session was spent working on multiplication and division of integers and rational numbers. The student demonstrated understanding working with negative numbers; however, she showed a need for additional practice when solving word problems involving proportional reasoning as well as long division. I spent some time re-teaching long division as it relates to repeated subtraction. We then worked with a progression of algorithms moving from more concrete to abstract.

We achieved some new milestones today. The student was able to remember his numbers from 1-100 and is looking much more confident. We are still working on his grammar and vocabulary, and he will need to practice more on his own time.
