Tutoring review by Christie in Roy, UT
The student got 100% on his last packet. I congratulated him on doing so well and completing his work. First, we worked on math for about an hour. He had ten problems to put into the y=mx+b format and then graph. He completed all of them. He has a new packet on atomic structure. This is new to him in science. We finished page 6 and 7. He is going to try to do some on his own and I will review the rest tomorrow night with him.

Tutoring review by Benjamin in Roy, UT
On my first session with the student we talked about how he feels about his math work in school and what he was having trouble with. He said he felt pretty good about his work and met regularly with his math teacher, but had some trouble areas. He said he was working on scale factors and shapes, so I decided we would begin working on scale factors with triangles. He demonstrated mastery of scale factors and I shared a little bit of trigonometry to keep the session challenging. I asked him to grab a model he had and he came back with a model plane and a ruler. We used the plane and the inch measurements he found and converted them by a scale factor and then converted it to feet through a unit conversion factor. The student performed excellently and practiced his problem solving, critical thinking, multiplication, and long division. We finished early and spent time speaking about superconductors. I defined what a conductor is in relation to electricity, how electrons work, and how temperature changes the behavior of atoms. I demonstrated the real world effects of these things through a video and we discussed the real world application in Elon Musk's plan to build a Hyperloop train. He seemed to absorb these lessons and was able to extrapolate the information into other applications correctly. We ended with the student teaching me how to make an origami ninja star.

Tutoring review by Madison in Roy, UT
The student had to make up some online math homework that he had previously missed/not understood. The concepts included finding constants and graphing equations with asymptotes. He caught on quickly when these concepts were explained and was able to apply what he learned to similar problems.

Tutoring review by Steven in Roy, UT
The student and I went over simple differentiation of exponential functions, and the applications of the first and second derivatives of said functions. The student did very well with the material, and seemed very comfortable with the derivatives of exponential functions. Although, at first he had some trouble with applying the chain rule, over time he did much better recognizing how to apply it. The student will be getting his previous test score back this week, which will be a note to progress. He has a worksheet from class to continue working on.

Tutoring review by Megan in Roy, UT
Today, the student and I covered review material for his test on Thursday. His test will cover multiple equation word problems, geometry proofs, polar coordinates, and simplifying complex expressions. He seemed to struggle with proportions and using them to set up equations, so we spent a good amount of time going over examples. After our session, he seemed confident for his test!

Tutoring review by Samuel in Roy, UT
This session focused on the chain rule and implicit differentiation. The student seemed to be more comfortable with the material when clearly labeling each of the components of a problem. She seems to be gaining more confidence with the material as we review concepts.
