Tutoring review by David in Pitman, NJ
The student is learning inverse operations and variables. He had around 14 homework problems that he worked on during the session. He had a little trouble with the equation with one variable involving multiplication. I gave him practice problems involving all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) so he could master the problems. He did extremely well with the practice problems. He had an excellent attitude during the session.

Tutoring review by Li-Yea in Pitman, NJ
We covered problems that most resembled what the student had been taught this year and his past exam and quiz format; he seemed to understand the concepts and was comfortable with equations and the material. We went over a lot of more challenging problems regarding areas of circles and squares, calculating different areas of prisms and pyramids, finding lengths of triangles with limited information given. The student had questions on the more difficult problems we had in the system but he said that his instructor had not given anything akin to them so it would be unlikely that he would be tested with those kinds of questions; he was comfortable with question type and difficulty that most resembled what he had been given in the past. Since he will have all the formulas with him, I am not worried about him having to memorize equations and he seemed comfortable with his resources so he won't be spending too much time looking things up. I did emphasize that he take his time and not make simple mistakes, as I think most of his incorrect answers come from that, not necessarily his grasp of the concepts. He should be careful about inputting numbers incorrectly into the calculator (for example, missing a parenthesis would give an entirely different answer in his calculations) and just be more careful in his calculations, especially if he is comfortable with the time he is given during exams. Overall, I am confident he is able to do well in his exam.

Tutoring review by Rachel in Pitman, NJ
This time we started where we had left off, working with similar right triangles. The student is doing an excellent job with solving proportions and has the algebra totally down. It's tricky to figure out how to set up some of these problems, but he made significant progress. Then we looked at some circle/ angle topics. First we did sector area which he picked up very quickly on and completely understood. Then we looked at two relationships between various angles formed by chords and radii in a circle. Like the similar right triangles, this was initially tricky, but by the end it was getting a lot more natural. The algebraic parts of these problems, however, were always easy for him. I left him with one page of extra practice and a couple of resources for practice problems.

Tutoring review by Henry in Pitman, NJ
We covered vocabulary building for more assertive behavior. In math, we covered exponentials (both negative and positive) and square roots. In reading, we worked on vertical farming. And in English, we worked on future tense, including progressive, perfect, and perfect progressive tenses, and polite requests.

Tutoring review by Alexander in Pitman, NJ
For our second session, the student and I went straight to analogies and reading comprehension. He took a practice test earlier in the week and brought it to me. We spent the first major portion of the session going over the results, retracing through the questions that he had gotten wrong and discussing them. He subsequently wanted to work on analogies, so we went over the section basics (types of analogies and how to best approach them, etc.) and spent the rest of the session working on practice question sets. He is a strong reader, and his instincts with unknown words are very good. He initially had some difficulty with the harder analogy questions but has shown great improvement with practice. I believe that he will do quite well.

Tutoring review by Joseph in Pitman, NJ
The student missed a lesson over concavity and the second-derivative test, so we focused on getting him up to speed there. Fortunately, he seemed to grasp the material fairly smoothly, and we were even able to work ahead a bit on an upcoming assignment over derivative graphs.
