Tutoring review by Danny in Orem, UT
The student mentioned not being able to attend class for the first lesson of the unit, so we went ahead and talked about potential types of problems he would be dealing with for his make up work and we looked ahead toward future lessons. We talked about Counting Methods such as Permutation and Combination with its relationship to Probability. Then we talked about different types of problems for Probability such as coin toss, dice roll, picking a card, as well as independent and dependent probability. We briefly talked about Pascal's Triangle and the Binomial Theorem, which is a topic that's a little further down the line of this unit. He was quick to pick up on the concepts and noticed subtle patterns within this topic. I left him extra practice on permutation and combination to be done when the topic is officially introduced in the class. He has studied two units since I've first started working with him, but he has not gotten his grade back for the former unit and had just finished the latter. Hopefully he can get those soon so that we can address any problems he is having.

Today we worked mostly on converting between parametric and rectangular coordinates. We also talked about the mirror equation and finding the image/magnification for different types of mirrors - convex/concave/plane. The student did very well with the concepts here. He just had a little trouble converting polar/parametric to rectangular at first, but I reminded him how to do it, and he did fine.

Today the student was assigned a group project for her math class. Her group needs to teach the class about interest. We started the session off with a few worksheets to make sure that the had the concepts mastered. Then we prepared for how she would present to the class by writing up a little lesson plan with definitions, explanations, the formula, and a 2 example problems. She then starting working on the homework assignment she has to make for her classmates. She did really well writing questions and using the concepts. She seemed to have a lot of fun coming up with the scenarios. She plans to finish writing the homework questions during our next session on Tuesday.

Tutoring review by Jeric in Orem, UT
We covered a wide array of topics from limits, discontinuities, and the basic derivative rules. It seems that the student was well prepared and knowledgeable, he just needed clarification regarding certain notations and application. I explained key hints that will hint at what derivation rule to use and gave him some shortcuts.
