Tutoring review by Matjaz in North Syracuse, NY
Today we continued geometry homework including circle cord theorems. This time proved that a line from center of the circle bisects angle that is inscribed into the cord. We did several more exercises involving drawing right angle triangles inside the circle where the hypotenuse was the radius. The student is highly confident with the flow of geometric proofs. In calculating distances of chords of different lengths to the center of the circle we came on a nice hint - quantity sought turned (after correct lengthy calculation) to come out negative. This told us that one of our initial assumptions was slightly off. It is nice when one can learn from a perfectly executed calculation.

The student and I worked though as many problems as we could in the time allotted. We went over problems relating to exponents and how to simplify such questions. This was in preparation for the third part of her three-part mathematics exam that she has been taking. She wants to finish strong during these last few weeks so we will work to do our best in achieving her academic goals. She is proud to achieve an A and will strive to continue her greatness.

The student and I worked through a review packet about fractions, decimals, percents, and order of operations. He was very good at cross multiplying. On percents, he needs to be careful when setting up the ratio that the numerator corresponds to the percentage. When we got to the graphing of y=mx+b linear equations, With some encouragement was able to put points on his graph. He told me what he was working on in geometry and physics, and we agreed that he would put worksheets and homework into a Google doc so we would be able to see them at home.

I was very glad to hear that the student received an A on his last exam. Today we focused on section 3.2, which covers Solving Linear Systems Algebraically. There were about 15 problems or so and he did very well on them. He was fully engaged, detailed, and methodical. I commended him several times on his computation. Although he had a couple of minor errors; he did very well overall. Most of the few errors were usually just an oversight. We took a quick peak on the upcoming sections of Solving Systems of Linear Equations in Three Variables and of Determinants and Cramer's Rule.

Tutoring review by Shawn in North Syracuse, NY
I reviewed the student's current assignments and upcoming exams. He said he needed help with his math homework. I reviewed the work he had done and walked through a few concepts with him. He seemed to understand the concepts quite well but made a few mistakes by rushing through problems. I encouraged him to slow down and show more of his work to avoid making simple errors. We spent most of the session studying for his science exam. We reviewed all of the topics on his study guide, practiced writing the essay questions, and reviewed the material in his textbook. I quizzed him over the concepts and he did fairly well. I made a short list of terms and concepts he should review before the test. We also briefly looked over a worksheet from his religion class.
