Often, a failure to fully understand some basic arithmetic or a lack of sufficent repetitions of the assigned material material is the cause of a problem. Both can be overcome with some extra work and understanding. Higher level mathematics is simply elegant...

Miami Tutoring FAQ
How much does Varsity Tutors cost for students in Miami?
The amount learners can expect to pay for personal tutoring in Miami varies, as it depends on each student's individual circumstances. A typical determining factor is how many sessions you sign up for.
If your student at Mast Academy needs weekly sessions throughout the term, the rate per session for them might be lower than for a student signing up for just a few sessions of LSAT test prep. Since so many factors, including the subjects being studied, can affect the final rate, it's best to discuss your needs with one of our Educational Directors first. They will be able to give you a more accurate quote.
Which tutoring subjects does Varsity Tutors offer for students in Miami?
You can get tutoring help for any subject. We have access to a large database of independent instructors, so we can connect you with an expert in any field.
If your student is having a rough time during math or science class, we will link you with a tutor for students in Miami who has the patience and skills to help them. If you are an adult learner studying Norwegian but find it hard to pronounce words correctly, an instructor is available for that. From tests like the MCAT to professional certifications in coding or data science, we can connect you with a private teacher who can give you the personalized assistance you need.
Why choose Varsity Tutors for tutoring in Miami?
We use a proprietary matching process to connect each student with a private instructor in Miami just right for them. Our Educational Directors will speak with you first, though, to make sure we have a good understanding of the needs of your student, their skill level, and so on.
That way, we can create a customized lesson plan that their tutor can follow; that plan will be tailored to their needs and learning style. However, their tutor can always try different approaches and adapt the lesson plan as needed. After all, flexibility and personalization are some of the top benefits you will get when learning with a tutor for students in Miami.
If you're looking for convenience and flexibility, private instruction may be just what you need. You can meet your tutor face-to-face, online, on your own schedule. You can sign up for as many tutoring sessions as you need until you feel you have a good grasp of the material. Your student's instructor can show them test-taking tips before a big exam, or they can introduce interesting reading materials to help them progressively improve. From critiquing your writing assignments to in-depth test prep, there is a lot you can cover with your instructor, so get in touch with Varsity Tutors today.
The Miami School System
The Miami-Dade County Public School District is home to more than 400 academic institutions serving nearly 400,000 students. Of these, nearly 40 are public high schools and 120 more are magnet schools that require an application process. The area has the largest minority public school system in the nation and is one of the only public school districts in the country to offer bilingual education in French, German, Haitian Creole, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. The city is also home to Design and Architecture High School, one of the country’s best magnet schools. The large student population and rigorous competition for admittance into the highly regarded charter schools in the area can be intimidating for students.
One of the ways to help students who are struggling with a subject, preparing for a standardized exam, or seeking a higher level of mastery in a particular area is to have them work with a private tutor. Professional Miami tutors can work with students from pre-K to university level courses to help them improve their skills. A personal tutor can also help with exam preparation for tests such as the SAT, ACT, FSA, or ISEE. Take a look at how some of the biggest schools in Miami stack up against state assessment averages:
Miami Test Scores
The FSA, or Florida Standards Assessments exams are given to students in the state beginning in the third grade. They are a tool to help educators measure a student’s academic gains and progress over the course of their academic career. Subjects covered include English Language Arts, Mathematics, End of Course exams in Algebra 1 and Geometry, and Science in grades five and eight.
These tests can be especially stressful for third and tenth grade students. Third grade students must receive a passing score to be promoted to the fourth grade. In order to graduate from high school, Florida students must pass a final FSA exam. The exam is first given in the tenth grade in order to give students additional time to earn a passing grade if they fail the exam the first time. If a student is unable to pass the FSA, there may be a complicated path to graduation by earning minimum scores on the ACT or SAT. Regardless, a passing FSA score is optimal.
An experienced Miami tutor can work with your child to master the subject areas covered by the state examination. This can include specific subject area instruction, but it may also include test taking strategies or general reading comprehension skills, which can help improve the student’s confidence and academic ability and help alleviate testing anxiety. While not strictly an academic indicator, confidence in one’s ability and a method for mitigating stress can help improve test scores.
Students of all ages need to be focused on course grades and exam scores, as the competition to get into the best schools begins long before high school. Once students enter high school, they need to be consistently looking forward to their college careers. Curious about which Miami high schools are at the top of the list? We’ve put together an informative table for your consideration:
Miami High School Rankings
High School | Miami Ranking | State Ranking | AP Pass Rate |
---|---|---|---|

A professional tutor can work with a student to improve his or her ACT or SAT scores. Many students who only have access to educators in a high student-teacher ratio setting find the individualized attention provided by working with a personal tutor invaluable. Consider the student-teacher ratios of the following Miami schools:
Private tutoring isn’t something that is limited to those students in a K-12 setting. Varsity Tutors can help college students connect with professional tutors in the Miami area who can help them achieve their academic potential in a university setting. Are you or one of your children interested in attending one of these Miami area colleges?
