While in Lemon Grove, you must be sure to visit the town's mascot, the World's Largest Lemon. The ten-foot-long sculpture was originally constructed as a parade float in the 1920s. The town chose the lemon due to its plot of land previously being a lemon grove. The town does not actually claim the lemon is the world's largest; they just like using the title.

The park includes a sectioned-off dog park, so your four-legged friends will be able to enjoy the great outdoors just as much as you. Bring a Frisbee for you and your friends and perhaps even get Fido in on the action. For a more action-packed park experience, visit the Firefighters Skate Park. The cemented park is equipped with a grinding bar, small jumps, and a box. The facility is open to inline skaters and skateboarders.

If you're looking for a more intense workout, visit the neighboring town of La Mesa. The city's old stairways have become a well-loved workout location for those looking for a way to push themselves to the limit. The cement stair cases wind up Mt. Nebo and Windsor Hill. The steps were originally constructed to assist foot traffic, but now serve as a cardio-lover's dream.

Once you're in town, you should visit the La Mesa Farmer's Market for some fresh produce. Tutoring review by Alexander in Lemon Grove, CA
The student and I covered the beginnings of World War I. We discussed why it started, the ideologies of America at the time, and the conflicts that were arising in Europe. Since the material was dense, we watched a ten minute video on World War I that was helpful. She has a midterm coming up this Thursday, so our session on Wednesday will be geared to preparing her for the exam.

Preterit and imperfect, the student worked on chapters 6 and 7 of his book. He filled in the blanks, looked at drawing without prompting and created his own sentences using both forms of past. I am preparing homework that will be sent online, and he will have it ready next time we meet.

Tutoring review by Igor in Lemon Grove, CA
We went over 2 reading passages in great detail. The students had difficulty inferring the authors' intended meaning. I would recommend reading the relevant passages phrase by phrase and strictly eliminating answers that are even slightly wrong. We also did some relatively difficult geometry problems that they got right with a little prodding. Practice in all areas is highly recommended!

Tutoring review by Melanie in Lemon Grove, CA
In this session, we went over the conjugation and different uses of ser and esar (to be verbs in Spanish). This lesson took up most of the class, and while at first the students seemed to be having difficulty understanding when to use each word, by the end, after giving multiple examples (particularly how such words would be used on the field), the guys seemed to be getting it better. We initially did a worksheet that just worked on conjugating each verb, and then, I handed out another worksheet where, looking at a sentence and its context, the guys would choose whether using ser or estar was appropriate. After going over ser and estar, which was definitely hard work for everyone, I wanted the guys to get the chance to speak a bit in Spanish (rather just writing). I separated the class into groups of 3 or 4, and they played twenty questions, having to ask and answer questions in Spanish. I will continue to try to think of more activities so they can practice speaking.

The student and I read 3 books I brought. She did a great job and had a lot of enthusiasm for the stories we were reading. She then worked on her writing skills, especially focusing on letters that have more than one hand movement.
