Tutoring review by Anna in Hillsborough, CA
The student worked on a review for over the chapter that introduced functions, definitions related to functions: discrete, continuous, relation, linear, non linear. He reviewed the terms and used them to answer questions in regards to functions. We also looked ahead at the next chapter, the chapter on the Pythagorean theorem.

Tutoring review by Kwaku in Hillsborough, CA
The student and I covered mostly algebra today. She had some chemistry that included drawing Lewis structures, and she completed it pretty much on her own which is great. We then moved onto algebra because of an exam that she has coming up. We specifically covered exponential functions. It consists of exponential decay or growth, interest rates, and transformation of graphs. She did really well with the problems that I gave her and I even left her with a review sheet that she could study from before her exam. I am hoping that with my help she will be able to do well on her exams.

Tutoring review by Tamara in Hillsborough, CA
Tonight we covered a wide variety of Math concepts ranging from geometry to exponents to factoring polynomials. The student seems to have a good grasp on all of the geometry, including finding all of the angles inside polygons as well as shapes inscribed in circles and the relationship between the angles and arcs. When it came to factoring polynomials, she was quick to get the numbers for each of the terms, but deciding to add or subtract was sometimes difficult for her so we went over some strategies for how to determine when to add and subtract and if it's one of each how to determine which one is which as well as the importance of FOILing to check her answers. The student was great at applying algebra concepts learned in previous classes and earlier in this class to new situations like when you divide and multiply by the reciprocal (now doing it with polynomials) and puts in effort to learn the new concepts. Overall this was a productive session and the student was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Tutoring review by Corbin in Hillsborough, CA
For this session, the student and I focused primarily on deriving her trigonometric identities. She mentioned that she was having trouble understanding how to solve for each identity using the Pythagorean method, substitution method and the reciprocal method when presented with asking a question such as if sin x = 1/3, what is the value of csc x? She was very receptive on wanting to understand the concepts and after looking at her tutorial, we did numerous practice problems on how to solve for each identity. At the end of the session she voiced that she better understood the material.

Tutoring review by Dexter in Hillsborough, CA
We started this evening's session with a refresher of the French numbers from 1 to 2000, and the student was able to enunciate each of them well from memory. We even went beyond 2000 to 3000 and 4000. Feeling that she was ready, she was able to recite the French numbers without looking at her workbook. This is good preparation for her first French test on Tuesday, which will be on the French numbers, vocabulary on the family, food and drink, and how to request food and drink in cafes. We also practiced vocabulary on la famille, where she performed well, reciting la soeur, le chien, les cousins and all the members of the family. We also then covered conversation in a cafe or a restaurant, and she learned "Je voudrais" and "C'est" and "qu'est-ce que ce'st" in French, and also learned new vocabulary, such as "le soda," "la limonade," "le jus d'orange," "le th?," etc. We will do more review ahead of her French test on Monday evening. She is doing well with the French material and always has insightful and thoughtful comments on the French language, showing a keen analytical mind. We also went ahead in her lessons and did an introduction to how to tell the time in French, in both military time form and how to tell time in the day and evening. We also covered all the colors in French, which she has also memorized. A productive session.

Tutoring review by Julie in Hillsborough, CA
We covered material for the student's honors geometry 5.1-5.3 test, which included the study of parallel lines. We went through all the problems on the review sheet he provided. He struggled with how to do the problems at first, but was incredibly patient and hardworking while learning. I demonstrated how to do the problems, then he explained how to solve the problems back to me, then I created additional problems to test his understanding of the concept. I believe he made a lot of progress tonight and think he is in good shape for his exam tomorrow. Good luck!
