Tutoring review by Johnita in Greenacres, WA
Today the first student had a work page from her book on graphing functions, and determining if a function was linear or nonlinear, so we talked about how to tell just from looking at the equations, and then I showed her a couple of different methods of graphing - the point-slope method, and the table method. The second student had a short math assignment from her book that had her graphing linear equations using a table, and also had her writing the equation from the graph. I taught her how to write an equation in point-slope form. After working on math, the students worked on language arts worksheets in which you identified what literary technique was being used in a given sentence (metaphor, simile, hyperbole, personification). They worked pretty quickly through everything.

Tutoring review by Robert in Greenacres, WA
Today we worked on word problems and literal equations. I also gave the student a couple equations to solve with negative numbers and fractions because she struggled with those last time. She needed help with the concept of word problems involving consecutive numbers. She worked hard the entire session. She has a quiz on Thursday on word problems. If she reviews the homework we went over today, she will be well prepared. She expressed confidence in now being able to figure out the word problems.

Today's session involved the student completing his math homework. He is still working on exponents. Today the multiplication of an exponent to a power was the focus. He struggled with the word problems a little, but over all I am happy with his ability to complete the homework with fewer mistakes than past times.
