Tutoring review by Rachel in Franklin Park, PA
We worked on analyzing mood and setting in the book "Night". She had a worksheet that asked about the different moods the author was trying to convey. We also worked on defining some of the trickier passages and the words that she didn't know and how they fit into the context of the text. After we finished with her language arts homework we looked at some of the science concepts she was struggling with. We discussed the difference between volume mass and density. Once we went over a few examples she seemed to have a really good grasp of the material.

Today the student and I worked on finding volumes for compound shapes including cylinders, spheres, rectangular solids, pyramids, and prisms. He has a good grasp of this concept, but could use some extra practice with pyramids and prisms. I will email him some more resources tomorrow.

The student and I worked on math during this session. We practiced perimeter, area and volume of objects. We also reviewed his math test which included the same subject material plus angles and shapes. He is always able to grasp the concepts after we work together. So with practice he should be able to gain some confidence in his math skills.

Tutoring review by Vanessa in Franklin Park, PA
Today we focused on reviewing for her final exams. We worked mainly on social studies and language arts. The student wrote a rough draft for a short story assignment she had and did very well. She had strong and clear ideas of where she wanted her story to go. We completed a final review for her social studies class, and she knew a lot of the material already without having to look at her notes. Great session.

Tutoring review by Daniel in Franklin Park, PA
The student seemed to struggle with the work during the session, but we were to clarify certain mathematical points that he was struggling with. We worked on several different sections in the textbook, with an emphasis on polynomials, logarithms, and multi-step equations. We went through each section, making sure that he understood the basic concepts. He reported feeling more confident, and he has a hope of passing the class. He and his mother were thankful for the work with algebra, and he reports that he wishes he had me as a tutor in the first place.

Tutoring review by Nina in Franklin Park, PA
We covered his practice test in math today. We did a lot of algebra and graphs, and some intro to precalculus. He is smart, but does not know a lot of these concepts. He is very open to having multiple tutoring sessions, but I'm unsure of his goals. I will work on that for next time, which may be tomorrow.
