Tutoring review by Daniel in Brigantine, NJ
We covered linear functions and matrices. We then converted the word problem to math expressions. The student has a final test to review areas where he needs help. With the test score, we will be able to better assess where the student needs help.

Tutoring review by Candelario in Brigantine, NJ
We covered various topics from 6th grade math. The main portion of the lesson covered geometry topics: different types of angles, types of triangles, finding the area of triangles, similar triangles, and finding the volume of prisms. About half an hour of the session covered basic statistics. The student had no trouble with mean, median, and mode, so we focused on finding quartiles and creating box plots. There were a few mistakes or missing information in her workbook explanations. I made sure to help her correct the mistakes, and explained why they were wrong by providing a concrete example. In the last 10 to 15 minutes we went over adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions or a combination of fractions and decimals. I mentioned to her that she should practice the long division method even with small numbers. She should practice her basic arithmetic and multiplication tables to help conserve time. I came up with additional examples from each topic for her to try, and she did well solving the problems. She seems to be, like many students, the type of student who simply learns more easily and faster in a one-on-one or small group setting rather than a large classroom.

Tutoring review by Ariel in Brigantine, NJ
We went over the student's homework (she did really well!) and worked on some math and reading passages. She still struggles with some general math concepts, but overall is improving. She is remembering specific strategies for solving problems, which is awesome! We covered: equations, averages, Pyth. theorem, fractions, angles, number lines, linear equations, and combination problems. We worked through #1-20 on p. 450 (test 3). We're going to focus our time on problems #1-20 so she can become more comfortable before we move onto #20-40. We worked through the specific line questions on p. 472-473. HOMEWORK: English, Reading

The student worked through his worksheet on trigonometric functions. We talked about amplitude, period, horizontal and vertical shifts. We also worked on graphing functions using this information. He was able to check his work using the answer key. He seemed to have a much better grasp of the material as we went on.
