Tutoring review by Christopher in Brier, WA
The student and I worked on preparing for her geometry exam the following day, covering the surface area and volume of various shapes. Although there were some concepts to iron out, by the end of the session, she had a very good understanding of the material, so I look forward to hearing how she does on this exam.

The student didn't have any assigned homework to work on, so we went over a particularly difficult practice word problem. We got through the meat of the problem, but because we only had one hour, we weren't able to see it through to completion - I let him know we could use some time next week to review the final answer if he wants.

We worked on the differentiation techniques of power, product, and quotient rules. I also clarified how to use the derivative to find tangent lines given: a point on the function, a target slope (like 0), and even a target point (which is much more involved). The student seemed to understand everything I threw at him, which is great. We also reviewed his homework, but I didn't need to do much there--he seems to be well on top of the coursework.

The student has a final exam for Algebra 2 coming up so we went over all of the lessons starting from the beginning of the semester. She struggled the most with piecewise functions. After going over some problems she fully understood them. We went over examples from each lesson. She has her unit reviews to study from as well.

Tutoring review by Leora-Dona in Brier, WA
Today, the student and I worked on solving addition and subtraction equations with variables. We also worked on creating equations from word problems. The last concept was plugging in a value for a variable to determine if it was a solution to the equation. This was very easy for him, and he said they had already begun this concept in class.
