Tutoring review by Lyndsy in Whitewater, WI
The student and I focused on solving and creating functional rules with tables for reference. We also solved word problems using functional notation and rules. He applied his algebra skills intuitively to solve these problems. Then, we moved to science balancing basic equations. Trenton struggled at first with distributing and understanding subscripts and coefficients, but he picked it up with review. We also reviewed how to separate elements in a formula like KCl and CO2.

Tutoring review by Miranda in Whitewater, WI
We continued looking at graphing quadratic functions. She told me that she was able to complete the other homework from before on her own. I reviewed her notes from class with her, making sure to review how it related to what she learned before and how it built upon it. We reviewed a selection of her homework problems covering axis of symmetry, finding the vertex, graphing, and maximum and minimum. She seemed to understand how to do the problems once I explained them. The thing she needs to watch most is not losing or adding negative signs. We will kept reviewing fraction rules with the goal to make them less scary for her.

Today, the student and I worked on exponential and logarithms to prepare for the current unit test that she has on Tuesday. She understood most of the material and was just confused on a few things that were cleared up by the end of the session. We went through two homework worksheets as practice for the test. She also had a review sheet for the test that she was going to do as practice to further prepare for the test.

Then, we moved on to double angle simplification and identity verification. We concluded with polar angles to rectangular angles.

Today, we covered fraction equivalents during our tutoring session. This is a difficult concept for students to grasp, so we used different methods of showing what fraction equivalents look like. We began with simple addition and progressed to fractions. We will be continuing this on Thursday. The student is so positive about learning!

Tutoring review by Demaris in Whitewater, WI
The student worked on his homework in algebra 1. Basically the sheet he had to complete was solving functions using substitution and elimination. After he completed the worksheets, I made up several problems for him to work with me. Finally I assigned him about 10 problems out of the algebra review book.
