The student and I continued to work on trigonometric identities. She has a two-part exam on Thursday and Friday this week, so we spent most of our sessions working to prepare for it. Success in this topic derives itself from memorizing the identities and being able to comfortably apply them. We worked on a new problem set with ease and she seemed confident in her abilities.

Today we worked on the unit circle, completing the unit circle with the radian and degree measures along with the coordinate pairs, converting radian to degree measure and vice versa, finding standard values without calculator. The student has a quiz tomorrow and I have sent him a practice worksheet to work on. I wish him all the best.

With Student T, we practiced for his PSAT tomorrow. With Student S, we worked on finding proportionality in linear relationships. I introduced him to the concept of a non-zero y-intercept when using the slope-intercept form of an equation. We worked on using graphing to help him understand a linear relationship.

Today the student played a game that focused on common endings that we've encountered while reading such as -ing, -ly, -est, -ness, -ful, and -ed. We also played a game which focused on blends and digraphs. We finished our session reading The Great Monster Hunt. She had to look for parts of words that she recognized and build upon her phonics knowledge to sound out the rest of the word. I can see an improvement when she takes the extra time to sound out words and use her knowledge of blends. We will continue to work on vowel sounds in the middle of words.

We started with chapter 2 and reviewed congruent figures and terms such as translation and transformation. We spent most of the time on the coordinate plane system and how to move shapes and find their new locations.

We covered linear kinematics in preparation for the final. The topics were definitions of distance, displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration and properties of vectors. We also worked on applying 1D kinematic equations with acceleration.
