Today we covered graphing inequalities and using them to find optimum points. We also used matrices to solve a system of equations. Moreover, we found equations of quadratic functions using 3 points on the graph. The student was very eager to learn. He needed help with matrices at first, but he eventually understood them. He is a very quick learner.

Today we worked our way through a few more problems on the student's EOC practice exam, focusing in on some key areas that are more difficult for him. In particular, factoring seems to present a few issues and we will spend more time in the future working out how to approach factoring problems.

The student has the standardized exam starting today. We refreshed various topics that may be covered. She is very comfortable with mean, median, and mode and is able to quickly recall what each one is. We reviewed how to find the greatest common factor and least common multiple of two numbers, taking the radicals of non-perfect square numbers, and went over the different equations that the student may encounter on the exam - areas, perimeters of squares, rectangles, triangles and circles. I believe the student felt very comfortable with the topics and should go into the exam feeling confident in her skills.

Today, we reviewed the student's homework on implicit differentiation. Then, we used implicit differentiation to find the second derivative of functions with two variables and to find tangent and normal lines to the curve.

We covered the material for the student's up and coming test, which was on matrices, identity matrices, and solving 3 variable problems using matrices. She was very quick to learn and will do well on her upcoming test.

Today, we worked on polynomial division, which took up the majority of the session. It was the first day the student had learned this, so she was a little rocky with it at the beginning, but it turned out well and we had the steps broken down and mastered.
