Today we covered end behaviors of functions, including horizontal asymptotes. In some cases we used L' Hopital's rule. We factored functions and used this method to find both vertical asymptotes and holes. We found derivatives using product rule and quotient rule. Student struggled the most with chain rule. Student was keen on learning the material and understood most of the concepts. Student understood most of the concepts explained today.

The student and I went over the new lessons covered in her class. The subject topics included chords, secant and tangent lines through a circle, and understanding the relationship between them. She will not be allowed a formula sheet for her test, so I made a small sheet of paper with the relationships written out for review beforehand. I made this in an effort to help her review and visualize the relationships.

We reviewed for the student's algebra test and covered such topics as simplifying expressions, solving equations and inequalities, solving for roots of quadratic functions, etc. We looked over the questions that he had in his notes as well as problems that I came up with. He was engaged and receptive to learning during the session.

Areas of improvement: pacing herself through problems, checking for accuracy, long division.
The student's attitude was very positive. She was very receptive to feedback and was very persistent with mastering each problem.
Strategies used: KWL, retracing your steps, fact fluency.
I instructed her to go over previous problems to check for accuracy and practice her times table.
She was a joy to work with, and I am very optimistic about the progress she is going to make.

We focused on reviewing fundamental concepts and definitions (postulates, angle properties, etc.). Specifically, we connected these more abstract concepts to concrete examples. This seemed to lead to a better overall understanding of key concepts. We ended the session with tips for better studying and homework practice. It seemed that the student benefited from a more concrete approach to some of the abstract geometric concepts.

We covered logistic equations and solving for their solutions. The student was attentive and enthusiastic as always. He did all of his homework as well as some questions from a website suggested by his mother. He understood the material very well and was very easy to teach.
