Tutoring review by Eric in Paulsboro, NJ
We covered problems in preparation for the student's exam. The exam will cover congruence, solving for a missing variable, and quadrilaterals. The student understood how to solve most problems when given a picture, but she had difficulty when she wasn't provided one. I instructed her on how to draw a diagram before attempting any word problem, then on how to fill in the given information, and solve the problem. Using this method, she was able to figure out the problems. We will continue to work on this method of mapping out these problems in our next session.

The student and I started with math. We played the card game Speed and then worked on subtraction with borrowing. He is becoming less dependent on me for the steps and understanding how a number can borrow and then be borrowed from (10 to a 9). I was also impressed with his multiplication facts. He needs to work on learning them in random order so he won't fully rely on his strategy (add 10 - (3) for his x7's.) I asked that he practice the 7's in random order this coming week. Then we continued filling out his graphic organizers related to descriptive writing for basketball. When determining how he would write the skills for basketball, we went outside and acted out the skills with a real basketball. This referred to throwing and dribbling. We'll finish the graphic organizer this coming Friday and start writing out complete sentences / paragraphs.

Tutoring review by Jackson in Paulsboro, NJ
Today was our first session together. After a quick introduction we dove straight into the student's school work. Her current lesson revolves around exponent rules. I walked her through each of the individual rules, providing example problems along the way. At the end of the session we did an overview and a couple "mega" problems that used all of the rules. She is a quick learner and I'm looking forward to continuing to work with her!
