Tutoring review by Lauren in Park Forest, IL
We reviewed his math workbook, where the student had to do scientific notation, graphing, and algebra. The student struggles with remembering how to complete a problem or memorizing a formula. The student started out great, accomplishing his goals. He and I came up with a reward after he successfully completed every problem. He will need to remember these steps to complete a math problem so we will continue to review them.

We completed an overview of domain, range, vertical and horizontal asymptotes, calculating x and y intercepts, and finding holes within rational expressions. We provided rules and examples to identify aspects of the vertical and horizontal asymptotes. We practiced a review of graphing all information with asymptotes and rational functions.

Tutoring review by Reyanna in Park Forest, IL
The student and I did a lot of review with distribution and working with common variables. She struggled a bit with deciphering negatives vs positives when distributing her numbers, but by the end of the session we came to an understanding of how distributing negatives works.

Tutoring review by Jonathan in Park Forest, IL
Today we went over circle math for about half the lesson, mainly focusing on arc, area, and angle problems. Then we moved into hexagons and some general polygon questions. The student had three quant AP exams the next day, and we spent the last 15 minutes talking about SAT strategy. He still has a tendency to take a calculus approach to solving algebra problems but usually it is only when he doesn't know how to approach it. I plan to pick up the pace some with him on learning what he does not know and then review it. He has a lot of gaps, but he picks up on new concepts very quickly. We'll meet Saturday and begin on polygons.

Tutoring review by Jacqui in Park Forest, IL
We focused on math and writing today. The main takeaway for math is reading questions carefully. The student's writing score improved a ton over the course of the section--she should just be careful of subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, between...and, and look for single/plural mistakes.

Tutoring review by Arnav in Park Forest, IL
We covered topics for the student's upcoming quiz. I also explained coterminal angles and factor expansion. The student's attitude towards the material was good. He tried to learn it, and he had a good grasp of it by the end. I told the student that if he had extra questions he could text me, and I would go through the solution with him through email.
