Tutoring review by Ron in Northport, NY
We did a review of absolute value functions, inverse of functions, and a few other problems involving functions and absolute values/inequalities. For chemistry, we did an isotopic abundance lab worksheet. Some of the absolute value problems were tricky but in the end we got through it and I believe that he understands why we did what we did for the problems. I believe that he has a quiz coming up for math, so he wanted to focus a lot on that and make sure that he understood everything. I did not leave him with practice since we went over a lot of problems. We went over isotopic abundance on Tuesday, and he was able to use the formula we used then correctly on this lab worksheet, so I think he knows that concept fairly well.

In preparation for the student's first day of French class, we did a giant comprehensive review of everything she's learned so far - introductory dialogues - names, where you're from, how are you, different formalities, nationalities, telling time, numbers and phone numbers, the verb to be and possessive nouns, and people words/ relationships. She did translation, listening, and writing exercises to review all of these. And she remembered pretty much everything! She will float through her first French class. Besides review, I also taught her a few school phrases that students often say, such as "Can I go to the bathroom?" (Puis-je aller aux toilettes) and "I don't know" (Je ne sais pas). Her cat came by, so we learned a few cat-related phrases as well - "Coucou chat!" (Hi cat!) and "C'est trop mignon!" (He's too cute!). Finally, the student learned how to ask and say people's ages, and we practiced by guessing and figuring out celebrities' ages. Bon weekend et bonne rentree!
