The student wanted to complete the problems her teacher provided as a review of previous subjects. The subject covered was equation substitution to find x, y (and z). The student did a very great job with the problems. We also went over mathematically modeling a word problem. After all problems completed, she felt more confident than before.

Tutoring review by Michael in Normandy, MO
Today we reviewed for a few minutes regarding sum and difference formulas but also including the formulas for sine and tangent today. We then looked ahead and went over the concepts for double angle formulas and I showed how the formula was derived. The remainder of the session we started practice problems related to double angle formulas. These also continued to include more trig identities and we spent time practicing additional identity problems as I still feel these are the most difficult and require the most practice in recognizing patterns. For the next session, I asked him to again continue reviewing his factoring from algebra as well as a few other algebraic tricks that were required in some of the problems we reviewed today.

Tutoring review by Nathan in Normandy, MO
We covered Newton's second law in physics and a variety of subjects/ concepts in chemistry in preparation for his chemistry midterm this week. The student struggled at first with the physics problems, but after doing a few problems together he started gaining a good understanding of the concepts, doing majority of problems by himself. He still makes avoidable mistakes here and there, but that will only improve as he does more practice problems. Chemistry seemed to go well; at the end of the session the student appeared to be relieved and confident about his upcoming exam.

Tutoring review by Lois Agatha in Normandy, MO
We reviewed about 3 problems from the previous section that confused the student a little. Then, we went over more problems involving systems of equations. I explained and showed her how to use the elimination method when the coefficients are not the same for either x or y. I also explained how to graph inequalities and how to use that graph to solve systems of inequalities.

Tutoring review by Manuel in Normandy, MO
We have continued preparation for the student's long awaited thermodynamics exam. Though I feel confident with where she stands in thermodynamics, one can never feel 100% sure. The goal is to tailor the review questions toward the format the teacher prefers and guide her through it. As usual, she has been very positive and well prepared for our sessions, and we often focus on ironing out details rather than going over entire concepts. Her ability to be well prepared has made a huge difference in our lessons and is something I always try to emphasize to all of my students. Her practice for the next several sessions is to reread the text and keep working on the review package she was assigned.
