Tutoring review by Darian in Newton, NJ
We covered graphing exponential equations. He was struggling to understand everything about this topic. Towards the end of the session, he was able to do his homework. However, whenever there are new problems, he struggles to apply his knowledge. He has his own homework to practice. He really needs to practice on his own time to get more comfortable with the material. This was a great session overall.

Today, the student and I went over his math test. Next we worked on his math homework, focusing on solving for percent increase or decrease. He seemed to have a pretty good understanding of this by the end of the worksheet. We had a little bit of time left, so we discussed Out of the Dust, a book he just finished reading for school.

The student worked on his homework during this session. He had a multiplication fact page with basic facts for fluency practice. He did well. I taught him 2 multiplication strategies/tricks for the 4 and 6 times tables. He was able to use the tricks in helping him create a multiplication chart and multiply all his facts from 1 to 10. He finished with a positive attitude.

Tutoring review by Amy in Newton, NJ
Today we worked on prepositions and conjunctions. The student did well with this. He was better at identifying conjunctions than prepositions in the beginning, but got better at prepositions by the end of the activity. He was asked to read a passage and identify the prepositions and conjunctions. After that we worked on the first step of the writing process for a descriptive writing paragraph. We read a reading passage that was a fiction passage about games. he did a great job of answering the questions at the end and was able to determine the author's purpose.
