Tutoring review by Michelle in Lemont, IL
The student and I reviewed her homework assignment from class. She solved word problems with multiple variables, reviewed a problem with polynomial division, and simplified a problem with radicals. She seemed to have a better understanding of the word problems after we did a few different examples. I believe with practice she will be able to solve these types of problems entirely on her own. We will continue to work on them in the coming lessons.

Tutoring review by Margot in Lemont, IL
Today we primarily discussed strategies for being better organized. We discussed keeping a to-do list, rereading notes at the end of the day, and writing down the key concepts so it would be easier to find them when reviewing notes for tests. We also discussed using flashcards and working on keeping papers organized by using more folders. We worked on math problems. Her class is starting to do square roots so we did some problems of finding the square root of the area of a square to find out the length of the sides.

The student completed an Algebra 2 worksheet packet today. It covered the basics of Algebra 2 like equations, PEMDAS, absolute values, inequalities and graphing. She did a great job today and demonstrated that she has a general understanding of the topics we covered. Most of which she was able to do on her own. She struggled most with inequalities and absolute value problems. Both are new topics for someone just beginning Algebra 2. She did most of the problems on her own at first and I checked over them. If I saw a problem, I would try to walk it through with her right after and then she would redo the problem.

Tutoring review by Megan in Lemont, IL
Today, the student and I continued ahead reviewing the upcoming chapter for his class dealing with probability. He seemed fairly comfortable with the basics, and we were quickly able to move forward to conditional probability, combinations, and permutations. Identifying what the information was telling him seemed to be the hardest part, so we practiced conditional probability the most. We got through the entire next chapter and he feels he is applying what we cover when his teacher covers it in class. Overall, it was a very successful session today. We will meet again next Saturday.

The student and I covered new material such as the sum of the angles in a triangle, both interior and exterior, and we showed why these are true. We reviewed her homework and also started a new section on isosceles triangles. She worked hard and was a pleasure to work with.

Tutoring review by Lucas in Lemont, IL
The student and I focused mostly on reading comprehension. To that point she had demonstrated a thorough understanding of the math concepts we had covered. She did well with the reading comprehension, although her vocabulary tripped her up at times. I advised that she study vocab as much as possible before our next session.
