The student and I worked on more homework for both his geometry and chemistry classes today because he said he needed as much time as possible on Sunday in order to get work for his other classes done.  We worked on material such as surface area of polyhedrons in geometry and did a worksheet that he had for his chemistry class.  The student seems to be understanding the material fairly well in both classes, and the more I ask him questions while we work, the better he seems to be grasping everything.

To start things off, we went over the ACT Mathematics practice test I asked the student to complete last week. Most of his very few mistakes were very simple ones, and he ultimately scored a 31 on the section! Afterwards, we began working another Math practice test together until I had to leave. The student is definitely improving on his math; once again he performed excellently, only needing a few tips on especially challenging problems. For next week, I've asked him to finish the section we began today, to take an ACT Science practice section on his own, and to watch an educational video online which should help him with a recurring topic he needs more explanation on, matrix multiplication.

We reviewed for her pre-calculus test tomorrow, going over finding polar coordinates, converting polar coordinates, the sine law, cosine law, vector dot products, etc. We practiced at least one problem for every section she did not feel comfortable with, and briefly discussed a study strategy for physics for the next session.

The student and I continued to work through her summer reading material. We covered about 4-5 pages and are now in the middle of chapter 3. She is doing a great job of remembering words immediately after I have pronounced/defined them for her earlier in the session, as well as from previous sessions.

The student worked on sentence composition and constructing sentences with her previous vocabulary words.  I gave her 4 new vocabulary work from her note cards to write a new narrative. She wrote her story very well.  She also wrote sentences with the vocabulary words from the previous session. We worked on the ISEE essay composition. Her essay flowed very well. We worked on structuring the essay correctly. In the mathematical achievement she needs to work on solving the problems on the paper.
