Highland hosts a variety of community events throughout the year, offering residents the opportunity to become friends in the small town. Each spring, the city sponsors an Easter egg hunt and cookie decorating at Heritage Park. Have the kids bring their basket and explore the grounds for hidden eggs, then gather in the pavilion and decorate tasty snacks. Every summer, Highland Fling Days takes place all over the city. The celebration kicks off with Kids Night at the Town Center Park Splash Pad, an art show at the Community Center, and a family adventure race at Highland Glen Park. Enjoy a movie in the park at dusk in Heritage Park, as well backyard garden tours throughout town. The festival features a youth rodeo, strong man competition, 5k run, pancake breakfast, one mile fun run, vendor booths, live entertainment, and kid's games. Friday night is youth Night in the Park with a hypnotist and concert. The celebration is ended by the Grand Parade and a fireworks display.

For year-round indoor fun, less than five miles away in Lehi, is the Hutchings Museum. The museum features several themed rooms, each containing interactive exhibits and guided tours. For animal lovers, the museum also hosts live animal shows with lizards, snakes, and birds.

Recent Highland Tutoring Session Notes

Tutoring review by Jonathan in Highland, UT
I began this session by meeting with the student's mother to discuss the timing of events for his algebra class as well as his performance on today's quiz. She said that he felt that he had done well on this exam and he even finished with time to spare, which was a problem on past exams. I then talked with him, who also mentioned that he felt that he was more prepared for this test than on previous ones. We reviewed the two sections he had most recently covered, and did a few practice problems from each. Once I was satisfied with his performance on each section, we began to go over the next section's material. This section involved factoring quadratic polynomials in which the leading coefficient was not one. Although this was the first time he had seen this material, he picked it up and was able to do a few problems on his own, so he will be well prepared to cover it in class.

Tutoring review by Cornelia in Highland, UT
Today, we mostly reviewed homework and we began studying for the student's Geometry unit test on Thursday. We reviewed homework and made flashcards with geometry terminology on them. It took quite a bit of repetition. I asked her to do a page in section 1.7 when I left. She was awesome the entire time, and she pushed through and got very excited about the flashcards. Hopefully they help.
