Tutoring review by Kyle in Gibsonia, PA
The student and I discussed and derived the distance and midpoint formulas necessary to understand absolute values of line segments. We worked through several problems and quizzes that tested these skills. I also spent some time introducing important concepts to grasp, in order to succeed in geometry (point, line, line segment, plane, postulates, theorems, etc.).

We went over a more comprehensive review of the state math test that the student will be taking this week. We found a few areas that she had either forgotten since learning, and some that they had not yet covered in her math class. She picked up each of these areas quickly, and I feel she will do very well on the test this week!

Tutoring review by Abigail in Gibsonia, PA
This week, the student and I continued building on her knowledge of Latin vocabulary, pronouns, and translation techniques. We began by reviewing her vocabulary flashcards. Her vocabulary unit this week focused on Latin words from which English words are derived, and accordingly she found the vocabulary this week very easy to memorize. She also showed considerable progress in her mastery of the words from the previous week. I assigned another four chapters of vocabulary for review for next week. After our vocabulary review, she and I moved on to discussing personal and reflexive pronouns. She seemed to understand the usage of the pronouns very well. We worked through a few practice problems from her textbook, and she seemed to have a thorough grasp of the material. However, she was having trouble memorizing the forms. To help with this, I showed her some memorization tricks for paradigms. We will continue to review pronoun forms in our future sessions. To close our session, we did about 20 minutes of sight reading, with a focus on translation techniques. I think that she is making good progress in Latin. She understands the grammar and syntax very well, and has a knack for translation. Her biggest challenge right now is memorization.

Tutoring review by Annika in Gibsonia, PA
The student worked on some assignments from school, including similes and geography. She found the similes a little challenging at first, so we discussed how to use the five senses to make creative similes. We also did free writing based on a prompt; she responded very well to that activity. Then we discussed the difference between opinion and fact and how facts are used to back up opinions. She is a great debater! She was very engaged in our debate on why zoos should or should not exist. During this session we also made a plan for how she wants to set up her learning space, and in the next couple weeks she plans to follow through with the plan she drew out. The student is a quick learner, so I think one skill we will work on is taking the time to look over her work and checking for mistakes, even if she finishes quickly and understands the material.

Tutoring review by Douglas in Gibsonia, PA
The student has excellent reading skills. I would rank his reading ability in the 7th grade. I left him some material for him to improve on his reading. He responds very well to positive encouragement as well as responding to an easy, playful environment. He struggles a bit in the mathematics side though, especially higher level subtraction. We will make sure to address his issues in the coming sessions. He is optimistic about learning the material though so that's a great place to start. Overall, he seems like an excellent student, and I would be more than happy to have him under my tutelage.

Tutoring review by Goke in Gibsonia, PA
The student completed two additional lessons on her math program, making 24 completed lessons. She has completed the assignments required to make a 100 on the project. She did a good job with executing the skills needed to be successful on the lessons. She is now receiving an average of 72 overall in sixth grade mathematics. She has spiral homework for continued practice on concepts that were already assessed. Her computational skills has improved tremendously. I feel that she must continue to be diligent to achieve continued success. She had a positive attitude towards the material covered. We had another productive session this evening. She is displaying a lot of growth.
