Today was the last session out of three to prepare her for test tomorrow. We worked mostly on graphing trigonometric functions with different amplitudes and periods. We focused on finding the periods of the functions and then breaking them into 4 sections to graph them.

We studied for her upcoming math retake. We were able to look at her first test which was really helpful. For the most part, her mistakes were caused by not having the formula written down correctly, so we spent 20 minutes of the session working on memorizing the formulas. We went over each question that she got wrong and figured out how to do it correctly. Again, it was mostly trouble with the formulas. She now has the formulas memorized, but I advised her to keep looking at them all weekend to ensure they stick for the test. I completely understand messing up the formulas, as there are so many to remember, but I believe she is ready for the retake. I also advised her to write down the formula she is using in each question to ensure she uses it correctly to find the answer. There can be so many numbers floating around in your head during a test that writing it down will make sure that she doesn't plug the wrong number into the formulas, etc. I think she is more than ready for the upcoming retake and, with just a little more studying of the formulas, she should be able to raise the test grade by quite a bit!

This was a good session. We reviewed some common literary devices and then continued with Euro. We discussed the end of the Renaissance and the transition to baroque art. We discussed the power of the church and their goals with new artistic styles. We then discussed Luther's 95 Theses and his complaints regarding the church. We defined the differences in Catholicism, Lutheranism, Calvinist (Presbyterians), and Zwingli. We then reviewed the Diet of Worms, Charles the 5th, and the connection between Spain and the Holy Roman Empire.

Tutoring review by Kanesha in Conroe, TX
We covered sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and passive vs. active statements. The student had a very slight challenge in the passive vs. active statements but caught on quickly. The student was alert, attentive, and committed to the session.

We covered several concepts in geometry including circles, distances, points and lines. The student seemed to quickly pick up several formulas such as the midpoint formula and distance formula. We also worked on a practice test he was assigned and he was pretty confident about the material we covered. I have assigned him homework which he will complete by the next time we meet.
