Tutoring review by Ronald in Berkeley, MO
The student and I worked on her assignment for Limiting Reactants in Chemistry. I explained to her the concepts for Limiting Reactants and Stoichiometry. She was able to understand the material very quickly. I left her with additional practice problems from the book to ensure she is ready for his make-up quizzes.

Tutoring review by Christian in Berkeley, MO
The student began working on separable differential equations since the last time we met, and she said she was having some trouble with it. It seemed to me that she knew that she would need to cross multiply an equation, but she didn't understand when to do it or why. I tried showing her how we could deal with an expression like dy/dx algebraically as if they were variables on their own. This helped a bit, but she still seemed unsatisfied. After some practice problems, it began to make more sense for her. I suspect that she was over-thinking many of the problems. To correct this, I told her to take a step back and break down the problem piece by piece, making sure she understood every part of the question before answering. Overall, her grades have been improving which is a good thing.

Today in our session we went through her homework assignment. Topics covered were confidence intervals for the difference of two means and the difference of two proportions. We also covered chi-square test of independence. The student feels confident in her ability to pass her upcoming exam; however, she will contact me with any further questions.

The student did a speed assessment for "3's,4's and 5's" multiplication facts. She was taught adding and subtracting fractions using the previous skills of simplifying fractions to do so. In addition, she completed multi-step word problems involving combination of addition and subtraction to solve. She was left with additional practice on her "4's, 5's and 6's" multiplication facts, changing mixed numbers into improper fractions and improper fractions into mixed numbers, and adding and subtracting unlike fractions.

Tutoring review by Christopher in Berkeley, MO
The student proved to me that he is very confident with complex numbers and being able to graph them. We went over graphing complex numbers and finding the midpoint and distances from each other. I also threw in some review problems from last session. I encouraged him to complete problems from his worksheet to extend his confidence in the subject. He does need to show his work; I feel this will alleviate the mistakes in sign notation. Great Job!

Tutoring review by Annalisa in Berkeley, MO
The student took three 1-minute quizzes to review multiplication, division, and subtraction fast facts. Then, we reviewed the steps for foiling and different ways to factor equations. Finally, we reviewed the slope-intercept formula and practiced finding putting equations into slope-intercept form, finding the equation using two points, and finding the equation using a point and the slope. The student remembered some things quickly (such as FOILing and the formula for slopes), but sometimes could not remember how to apply those concepts (such as what x1 and y1 refer to in the formula and how to plug those numbers in). He is great at communicating and letting me know when concepts do and don't make sense to him.
