"Reviewed previous material on animals, food, weather, and transportation. Engaged the student in oral and written exercise pertaining to jobs and careers, as well as a lot of vocabulary. Went through conjugation of present simple of verbs of the first group. Left student with a couple of pages of homework to review the material on jobs and introduce the next unit: body parts."
"Student one continued learning about inviting people to do things, including how to give excuses for why you can't do something. We then introduced locations where you do things. Student two worked on past tense again with avoir and etre together."
"The lesson began again with a review of some important material from previous lessons such as the French words for the numbers 0-12, the partitive construction in French, and how it differs from the plural indefinite article used with plural countable nouns and the affirmative and negative forms of the French verb "to have" for "je" and "tu." The lesson proceeded by rounding out the remaining irregular forms of "to have" for all the singular and plural persons and the negative forms of the same, with an emphasis on the peculiarities of pronunciation of some of these especially in regards to liaison. For this reason, a portion of the session was devoted to having the student practice pronouncing French phrases and sentences that utilized these forms as well translating the different constructions into English, and the student did very well in both phrases, needing occasional correction in certain French vowel sounds only."
"The session went very well. We talked about pronouns and where to place them when using the passe compose. We talked about families, books, veganism, and the difference between France and the US when it comes to those topics."
"The student and I are working on preparing for her re-take of her final exam in French. Her attitude is very positive. We reviewed homework I gave her from last session and went over the mistakes and discussed them. I gave her more homework (writing three paragraphs in French and studying irregular past participles and verbs conjugated with etre)."
"The student and I began with our usual greetings, asking them for the day's date and how the weather was outside. I took a couple minutes to bring up the Fourth of July and how the French also have an Independence Day of sorts. The students read their homework aloud, which was descriptive portraits of each other using a table of adjectives in the textbook. Afterward, I asked them questions for them to answer verbally on the spot, recycling those adjectives and a few others I thought of. I incorporated adjectives for nationality, too, asking them what nationality certain famous people are. I presented clothing vocabulary to them, followed by a chance for each of them to stand and say what they were wearing. I gave them exercises from the book, and a brief passage on their favorite clothing to wear, for homework."
