Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the last few problems on the student's trigonometry identity worksheet. He needs to clarify the sine and cosine values for 30 and 60 degrees, and is more comfortable using degrees than radians. He needs more practice in identifying angles given inverse trig values. We also went over converting polar and rectangular coordinates, which he just started learning."
"In today's session we covered a couple of problems on factorization of polynomials. The student did well with these problems."
"Today the student and I worked on writing imaginary numbers in trigonometric form and on plotting them. He had done work on vectors while I was gone, and he seemed to be pretty good at working with vectors. Once I explained polar coordinates to him, he was much better at vectors. When he understood that all you do is either have x and y, and you need to obtain the magnitude and angle, or vice versa, he did well. I assigned him some homework that only included unit circle calculations."
"Today the student and I worked on the unit circle and quiz prep. She seems to understand the reflections of the unit circle."
"We covered functions and graphing in this session. Essentially, we worked on domain and range, graphing functions, and composition of functions. The student had a precalculus review sheet which we went through in detail and I was able to help him understand problems that he had trouble with. We were able to complete the review worksheet and he said he feels much better about his test tomorrow. He was eager to learn and asked a lot of specific questions. I think he will do really well on his test."
"The student's math class is moving faster than his chemistry, so we did math today. He's starting on longer polynomials - Descartes' rule of signs, division of polynomials, numbers of roots, etc. We also touched a bit on complex numbers and conjugates, which is what he will be doing next."
