Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I wanted to prepare the student for her in-class math test so we went over perimeter and area. She was having a hard time distinguishing between the two, so I gave her practice problems. By the end of the session, she was able to find both perimeter and area. At the end we did extra multiplication practice for another test she was scheduled to have the next day."
"The student was calm and attentive throughout the session. He attempted all the tasks that I presented. He worked on exponents, order of operations, division, and converting metric units. He needed help a little bit with division and computation; he accepted feedback nicely. Strategies for the session included using a visual schedule, structured format, verbal prompts, Socratic method, and verbal praise. I left two pages with problems related to order of operations and exponents for him to practice over the weekend. I enjoy tutoring him; he is polite, respectful, and always willing to work."
"The student and I studied together for her exam she is taking today. We worked on fractions, dividing fractions, simplifying fractions, etc. I gave her a practice exam that I took from her chapter and she did excellent on it! The only issue she is still having is converting fractions. We did many practice problems on converting fractions and she seemed to only make a small error every now and then. She feels much more confident in herself and I cannot wait to see her results! Side note: she also told me that tutoring is her favorite part of the day!"
"Today, we further discussed fractions and multiplication of fractions. We went over the homework and worked on some extra practice material as well. The student was also given some extra practice to do over the weekend."
"Today, we worked on mixed review from the beginning of the year topics. We reviewed place value and rounding to the nearest ten thousand. The student needed extra problems to practice the rules of rounding. After that, we worked on examples that include multiplication with 2 digit by 1 digit and 2 digit by 2 digit. She did a wonderful job with the partial products strategy. Lastly, we reviewed long division. Overall, the student worked very hard. I assigned her some homework problems from a practice test of mixed skills for our next session."
"The student and I worked on fractions and 3 dimensional shapes tonight. Then, she read a chapter in her book, and we talked about it. She is understanding fractions a lot better, and she has a great understanding of 3d shapes. She is reading quite well and can comprehend what she is reading."
