Session Summaries by Trigonometry Tutors

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Jerilynn in Pawtucket, RI
The student and I reviewed arithmetic and geometric sequences and series. We practiced finding the rule of sequence for a sequence given one of the terms and the difference or ratio as well as when we are given two terms. We also reviewed the formulas to calculate the partial sum of the first n terms for both arithmetic and geometric series and also how to find the value of the infinite sum of a geometric series with a ratio between -1 and 1. We talked about what a recursive formula for a sequence is and writing a rule of sequence for sequences that are neither arithmetic nor geometric. We went through using the sigma notation for a series and how to use the formulas for the partial sums to calculate a sum starting with a different term than the first term. She is doing better finding the rule of sequence for arithmetic and geometric sequences and she is doing better finding the partial sums for both types of series.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Cuong in Pawtucket, RI
Today we covered the unit circle, graphing sine and cosine, the reciprocal identity, and converting between radians and degrees. The student understood most of the topics, but he had a small amount of struggle with conversions. I showed him how to label the unit circle in radians without having to memorize everything. I am going to find him extra practice problems to do over the weekend.
