Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked through more GRE quantitative problems, most of which were 'quantity A / quantity B' type questions. There were several problems that involved plugging in integers and solving out equations, and several that involved geometry. We went over some basic rules in geometry. I had emailed the student a link to a math review and suggested that he look through that on his own time. I also recommended that he buy a set of GRE vocab flashcards to study for the verbal section on his own time."
"We worked through more ratio and average problems today. We touched on some work with exponents and polynomials to finish covering the major topics for the math section. Moving forward, we are going to split the time between reviewing math and working on some of the verbal components."
"We worked through prep book math practice, specifically questions from the fractions/decimals, probability, and word problems sections. Before our next session the student is going to review some particular content areas from the GRE book math review (exponent rules, geometry, & counting methods/probability), so that we can talk about those topics and look at some sample questions."
"We worked through some math problems from the student's most recent practice test. Then, we went over her argument essay. It was very well done and showing significant improvement! For next week, she should review exponents and roots from the test prep book, continue working on the next vocabulary section, and take another practice exam with both essay questions."
"We worked through some more math on the math site we've been using. The student's math skills have improved so much since our first session. He has a few more tests to work through on the same site. He can contact me at any point up to and after the GRE (as I definitely want to see what the future has in store)."
"We worked through the Verbal Diagnostic tests. The student primarily needs to keep working with the vocabulary words to brush up on the more arcane terms used in the Verbal Section. We went over the strategy in the context of reviewing answers for the diagnostic test, but she will go through the verbal section of her review book. Then we will practice together utilizing the materials online. Our next session is set for Friday. We will pick up on mathematics Chapter 11. She will read the chapter and perform the drill on p. 242-243."
