"We attacked SOH CAH TOA! It was pretty foreign to her. We started at the beginning and she was determined, even though it doesn't come naturally to her!"
"Today we spent the first fifteen minutes discussing which chemical reaction the student should choose for her final project. After going over the household use for the various chemical processes, the student decided to do her project on Antacids. We then spent 45 minutes working on a worksheet on Thermochemistry. The student understood the graphs but had trouble relating them to theoretical knowledge so we spent some time ensuring that she understood what the data was telling her. We spent the last 30 minutes working on a Arithmetic Sequence worksheet. After reviewing when to use what formula, the student was able to successfully complete the worksheet and was very confident in her knowledge of the material."
"We covered probability as part of module 9. Today we managed to cover three sections to hopefully prepare the student for her next quiz, and we will meet at least twice more before her module test to prepare her for that and the module. The student was understanding these sections very well and was able to move at a much quicker pace than when we were covering the last module. She also told me she felt more comfortable about the last module test than the one before, but we won't know the grade until next week at least."
"We covered properties of arcs, chords, sectors, inscribed angles, equation of a circle, etc. She needs to make sure to do the homework and study all the theorems. She needs to know when to use them. When doing problems, it's also important to draw/write everything out."
"Today we worked on section 11.6: Volumes of Pyramids. The student did very well. There were a couple of fairly challenging problems. However, he understands the concept and is able to apply it to the exercises. I advised him to, besides slowing down, organize his work on a problem by drawing, labeling, and showing the calculations. I truly believe that if he takes his time and structures his work, then he is an A math student. He is very sharp and is able to solve problems."
"We went over the student's geometry quiz that covered proofs. Then he worked on his assignment covering probability. He did all but two problems. His attitude was excellent. I am helping him review for his final."
