Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We first played "five chess" to practice the name of colors, numbers, and a few verbs. They also used a chess game created in the shape of a car, so I used car and bus as today's subject. I read a Chinese story book to them, about the journey of a bus, they enjoyed the book very much. They followed the story, and learned new names of animals and plants. They learned how to listen and respond with instructions. The last thing we did was their favorite "Chinese app for Kids," on which we reviewed one lesson and learned a new lesson of identifying and saying the characters."
"We went over potential complement and "ma" and "ne" sentence structures. I think the lesson went well. There were a few homework assignments she struggled with a little from her last lesson, but as I have noted, we may have to go over part of the lesson again during review. We will continue to work on this next session."
"We went over the remaining materials from the first class, and also began reviewing part of the new materials the student sent to me. She did well in the class. She still struggles with some of the tones. The fourth tone and second tone sometimes get mixed up. I asked her to study those words after the session."
"We went over what we learned in the last session before we started something new. We completed an important lesson today on food items and tools in Chinese restaurants. Analyzing the forming of some Chinese characters was on the list too -- this helped the students understand the characters and made the class more interesting. They are smart and cooperative."
"We worked on better pronunciation and better communication. The student should use the words he learn to make more sentences so that he can express himself better to have a conversation with people in China."
"We worked on the following: simplifying rational expressions, graphing inequalities: linear and system of equation, and domain & range. The student was proficient with all topics that we went through today. He needed some reminders for some of the problems, but he did well overall. I left some extra practice for him to work on. During the next session, we will be focusing more on his Chinese summer packet."
