Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Wow, did the student bring his A-game today! We worked on the "Third Declension Nouns" explanation/exercise set, on which he did superbly. Thanks so much, for your good hard work tonight. You'll do just fine, I know, on tomorrow's meteorology test."
"We discussed the 7 major Japanese dialects and looked at the map to see where these dialects are used. Then, we reviewed hiragana using the flashcards from last session. We have been practicing both reading and writing hiragana. We also re-learned the Ya line (ya, yu, yo). My goal for the student is for him to memorize all of the hiragana soon so that he can start reading and writing them more easily."
"We focused mostly on Japanese conversation, with the entire lesson as a conversation in Japanese, with only occasional breaks to clarify certain terms in English. We discussed the student's ambitions in regard to his Japanese skills, and his future career."
"We got through two thirds of the review for the first semester of Japanese. He still remembers most of the grammar points and did a really good job getting through all of the points. I gave him seven more kanji to work on until Thursday. I also told him to review all of his vocab."
"We had an in-depth review of verb and adjective conjugations. The student needs to practice more of negative forms. We practiced how to say days: today, tomorrow, yesterday, etc. Next session, we will get into chapter 2 in the textbook."
"We have covered a good numbers of verbs and vocabularies from this lesson. We also learned grammar for "doing" (I am eating, playing, drinking, etc.). We practiced more by applying to many different verbs. For the last 20 min, we practiced conversation by using those vocabs and grammar. The student understood most of conversation. He has a very high level in Japanese speaking and a great amount of vocabulary."
