Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent the session reviewing a test review guide in preparation for her test. She remembered all of the complex algebra we covered last week."
"We went over some of the student's review packet from school for his test tomorrow. We reviewed how to turn degrees into radians and vice versa. We went over the unit circle and the trigonometric functions."
"The student has a test tomorrow. We covered many topics from her chapter 2 over finding zeros of polynomials, graphing functions, determining domain and range, estimating end behavior, and related algebra. There's a few big concepts that she struggles with, otherwise she is good at understanding and applying. I just need to see what large connections need to be made."
"During this session, we focused on reviewing the properties of vectors. We talked about how to convert between magnitude/direction and components. We also reviewed the dot product, including using it to find the angle between two vectors or determine whether vectors are perpendicular. Finally, we applied these skills in word problems."
"We worked on solving systems of equations with three variables. We talked about vectors, calculating magnitudes and directions. I showed her how to find solutions both graphically and algebraically."
"The student and I continued working on finding rational roots of 3rd degree polynomials. We used a variety of strategies, including the rational roots test, factoring by grouping, polynomial long division, and using the general solution to the quadratic. He strengthened his understanding of synthetic division by explaining the process to me. We then examined the overlap between synthetic division and long division. He seems to be improving in his ability to find roots of polynomial functions. We ended the session with a brief discussion of complex roots, which he seemed to immediately pick up."
