Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I mostly concentrated on her physics review over momentum. She is doing very well with that. We also went over her chemistry packet to review for her pre-comps."
"We spent the first hour reviewing topics from Thursday and then spent the remaining time practicing force diagrams and discussing the relationship between forces and acceleration."
"in today's session we continued working on trigonometric identities in PreCalc. We also started a new unit, electrostatics, in Physics."
"This time the student and I went over physics since she had a quiz tomorrow. She's very good at math and science and understands everything we've gone over so far quite well. Next time, we are going to start doing ACT material because she is taking the test in mid-December. She is going to try to do either 1 or 2 whole practice tests for next time, and we will go from there."
"The student has another quiz tomorrow, so today, we finished up covering the last bit of material that her quiz covers. This was purely focused on induction-- how induction relates magnetic flux and current, what induction is conceptually, the different kinds of induction (self vs. non-self induction), the energy stored in a conductor, and how to express EMF as a function of inductance. After we finished covering a few problems on these topics, we did a practice quiz, touching back on Ampere's Law and current density. We covered a few examples today on determining the direction of the induced current using Lenz's Law, so hopefully, that will help her if it comes up in tomorrow's quiz."
"The student was preparing for an exam on momentum, impulse, and momentum conservation. We worked on several problems dealing with various aspects of these topics. In particular, we tried to work with problems based on first principles, rather than an excessive reliance on pre-fab formulas, so we could be sure she was understanding the situation as described in the problem to accurately arrive at a solution."
