"Meeting just before her AP test. We worked on a packet that had different kinds of tests on them and worked out how to solve them using the calculator. There was one question that was somewhat unclear to her, but other than that the tests were pretty obvious and she got them right."
"Today, we reviewed the student's quiz on graphing and solving systems of equations (in two variables). We also delved into chapter 15 on graphing and solving quadratic equations. Finally, we completed homework problems on quadratic equations, including analysis of transformations and reflections over the x-axis."
"The student needed some help with a paper due this Thursday. We walked through the article she was supposed to be writing about and outlined some ideas and examples for the essay. When I left it seemed like she had a pretty good grip on everything. We may need to meet again to take the outline and begin working it into a coherent essay."
"Worked on a lot of Logical Reasoning questions. I think we made some progress on some of the questions, like the "flawed reasoning." I'm excited to see how he does on the test this weekend."
"We went over an assignment that required the use of Oracle Fusion Crystal Ball software. We covered problems related to risk assessment of exposure to a carcinogen. The student was able to work problems inside Excel using the Crystal Ball add-in and generate forecast charts."
"This was our first class since the student started 9th grade. She feels comfortable with the material so far. We reviewed some of the vocabulary from a quiz she had this week, and she knew it all. It was clear she has studied this thoroughly. Next, we reviewed a worksheet on the preterite tense that her teacher gave her. She was familiar with the conjugations of regular verbs. Some of the irregulars tripped her up a little. We did more practice with irregulars using a book that I have. She did a good job with these exercises, but still had a few errors with irregulars. These must be memorized. There is no uniform pattern. With more practice they should become more automatic. Finally we did some listening practice. The speaker was from Argentina so the accent was strong and a little difficult to understand, but the student comprehended the main ideas."
