Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed the student's homework and quizzes for the last two weeks. She has a quiz this week and an exam next Monday. We will be meeting again Friday to go over all the material. We have been working on log functions and natural log functions. She seems to have a pretty good understanding of the material. On Friday, I will be bringing worksheets for us to practice more."
"Today we reviewed the student's review sheet and also the exam that she had just taken. I allowed her to lead today's discussion, and she seemed to do very well with it. With the remaining time, I covered a question from the SAT that was very similar to what we had done on one of her questions. Next time, we will be going over some other review material and some new material."
"Today we went over elements, mixtures, and compounds for chemistry and using the Pythagorean identities and substitution for trigonometry. The student understood very well the differences between elements, compounds, and mixtures. She had a bit of trouble solving for theta when told to use the Pythagorean theorem, but she was able to work through the problems. Once I explained how she could use substitution in order to solve for theta she was able to answer a question I gave her on her own. It was a bit difficult to find something to work on, since there were only a few Pythagorean identities her teacher had gone over and were mostly with sine and cosine, but we were able to review material instead to make sure she understood the concepts well. Overall, she had a positive attitude towards the material we went over."
"Today we went over synthetic division, long division, and polynomial FOILing. The student seems to be on top of the material and definitely capable to do all the homework problems given to him. He only needed some clarity such as adding only in synthetic division, but subtracting only in long division with polynomials. He is doing great in his understanding of the material and hopefully is well prepared for his next quiz or test."
"Today we went over the 2 review worksheets for the student's Chapter 3 Test tomorrow. He did extremely well on both. I even told him that he "should ace the test." I am very confident that he will earn a high A as long as he is focused and doesn't hurry."
"Today we went over the student's review packet to prepare for her exam next week. The exam will cover functions and matrices. She has a good grasp on the subject matter and uses great deductive reasoning skills. We went over a test on matrices that she took last week and worked on figuring out where she had gone wrong. We talked about taking the time to fully understand what the question is asking and presenting the material in the format required."
